Prosthetic dentistry

It includes one or more teeth to insert in order to restore, chewing problems, beauty and speech due to lack of them as well as restoration of bones deficit. Prosthetic restorations are produced in cooperation with dental laboratory and are extensively the following:

Partial and full dentures

Used in cases of total or partial lack of teeth. They are detachable restorations (removed and cleaned by patient) which are made in cases where dentists cannot restore lack of teeth with a porcelain arch bridge or with implant restorations.

Crowns (caps)

A crown is a prosthetic restoration which fully covers the tooth in order to protect it or improve its appearance. Crowns are mainly used in the following cases:
a) Teeth with fracture
b) Teeth with extensive fillings
c) As a preventive measure on teeth which have been restored through root canal treatment, mostly at the back teeth in order to prevent a fracture in the future.
d) Cases of extended wearing away of the teeth (facets) because of bruxism.
e) Replacement of old crowns because of damage or recurrence of tooth decay.
f) Beauty reasons: in cases where we want to change colour, shape or teeth pattern, mostly anterior ones, in order to look more natural and beautiful.

Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Other materials include gold and metal alloys, acrylic and ceramic. These alloys are generally stronger than porcelain and may be recommended for back teeth. Porcelain bonded to a metal shell is often used because it is both strong and attractive. Recent years, as a result of augmentation of aesthetic demands and constant improvement of materials, crowns can be made out of zirconium as well, with excellent results.

Dental bridges

Applied in cases of replacement of one or more teeth when implants cannot be used. Teeth of a dental bridges can be adjusted in colour, shape and size to natural ones. Concerning the material of which they are made of, same information as on crowns apply.

Porcelain facings/veneers

Through porcelain veneers we can change colour, shape and size of teeth. By slightly or not at all drilling the teeth, we set very thin porcelain “peelings” upon teeth, offering as a result an impressive and bright smile.
